CFAB™ Cellulose Absorptive Acoustical Panels

Soundproofing Cellulose Panels by Acoustical Surfaces.

CFAB cellulose panels are an environmentally friendly and budget-conscious choice for those interested in exceptional cost vs. acoustical absorption performance. These panels, made from recycled materials, carry a class A fire rating for safety. Installation is straightforward, and their impressive sound absorption performance provides excellent value for the cost.

Cellulose-Based Acoustical Panels

  • Controls reflections and deadens sounds within a room
  • Easy to handle and install – No special equipment required
  • Class A fire rating
  • Resists mold growth
  • Made from renewable and recycled fibers
  • Low VOC Emissions – Passes CDPH V1.2 Test Standard and can contribute to LEED V4.1 EQ Credit: Low-Emitting Materials

CFAB cellulose acoustical panels are made with a unique blend of 65-75% recycled fibers. They offer an environmentally friendly solution for acoustical panels. The panels are cost-effective, easy, and safe to handle and install. Most panels are installed onto the walls or ceiling with adhesives, but stick pins and washers can also be used. The most common applications for the CFAB Cellulose panels are in areas where aesthetics is of less importance, or in applications where they are used as an acoustical backer for a site-stretched fabric system. Some typical applications for the CFAB panels include industrial or mechanical applications, breweries or tap rooms, absorbent panels for behind stretched fabric or linear/slatted wooden walls or ceilings, under tables and chairs or in other situations where the room or space is going for an industrial / recycled aesthetic.

Green Qualities

Made from a combination of recycled and renewable fibers, CFAB cellulose panels are environmentally responsible and sustainable. Most CFAB cellulose products are completely recyclable and no scrap is produced during the manufacturing process or installation of the material. In addition, they are manufactured using a greener process by reducing energy use and air pollution. Through an innovative manufacturing process, CFAB is produced as a cellulose-based product made primarily from post-consumer, post-industrial paper using recycled newspaper as the main raw material.

Acoustical Performance

The fiber matrix, panel thickness and core density of CFAB cellulose acoustical panels are a great way to reduce echo and deaden and reduce reverberation noise within a room. CFAB cellulose panels achieve high Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) ratings based on the density specified. The chart below represents NRC ratings for the four different thicknesses that can be produced. Sound Transmission Classification (STC) rating for the ½” thick product has been done for specific applications where noise reduction through a wall or floor/ceiling assembly is needed. The 1” and 2” panels can be used inside of a wall assembly and will help in the overall noise reduction performance of an assembly, but these thicknesses have not been tested for an STC rating.

Product Safety

Our CFAB Cellulose panels contains flame retardants to ensure maximum safety for building insulation, and carry a Class A fire rating. To protect against mold growth, CFAB cellulose panels contain an EPA-registered fungicide. CFAB does not contain any harmful airborne particles, and do not itch or irritate skin.
